Some weeks I have to rack my brain for things to write about, other weeks there's plenty. This week falls under the latter. Here's some of the highlights
We started the week off with an exchange to Issaquah with the zone leaders! Elder Sill treated me to some teriyaki for lunch, now that's a good leader right there! He really knew how to gain my respect.
Remember Annie and Ella? They were the Chinese people who walked into church a couple months back. They've been really busy working on a remodel of a house in New Castle so our contact with them was pretty sparse. A member told us that they had gotten anti'd. We just had a new member move in to the ward who served a mandarin-speaking mission so we had him go over there with us and see what was up, and it turned out really well! They're going to be moving in the next couple months but they'll still be looking into the church. We're actually working on starting a Chinese Branch in the stake that will probably meet here on the Island. Annie told us that she's especially interested in the church for her daughter because we (the missionaries) seem very mature and responsible compared to other people our age. She obviously doesn't know us very well!
Friday we had a lesson with S. She's Jewish but she believes 100% in Jesus Christ. She wants to get baptized but her hold up is that she works for a Hebrew school, and she's won’t be able to work and come to our church.
Saturday we decided to bike the loop around the island and stop at every member on our list. Well, we were in over our heads and had to start being more selective with who to visit, there wasn't enough hours in the day! We were going around inviting everyone to the fireside on Sunday. We actually ran into a less-active member who said he'd come!
Sunday we had a lot of people at church. V's back in town, P is going to come more regularly from here on out, and another guy just walked into church! He was there just for learning purposes, we tried to get a phone number and/or an appointment but he said he'd think about it and contact us. Not super solid but we'll see what happens!
Here's a verse I really liked from
Mormon chapter 9! "27 O then despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord, and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand in need. Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before him."
Love you all!
Elder Robb
